An agricultural economist in the Philippines is a person who designs; develops; implements; and evaluates policies related to agriculture, especially when it comes to products; commerce; and resources.

He is also responsible for conducting researches aimed at identifying and resolving agricultural problems, coming up with effective strategies that will prevent them from happening again in the future, and making agriculture-related forecasts based on past and present agricultural trends both in the local markets and abroad.
