Landscape Architects Board Exam 2013



The Landscape Architects Board Exam, also known as the Landscape Architects Licensure Examination, is a board exam facilitated by the Board of Landscape Architecture under the Professional Regulatory Commission to assess the competency of BS Landscape Architecture graduates.

As per R.A. 1080, individuals who passed the board exam need not take the civil service exams to be eligible for the following positions:

  • Site Planner
  • Land Development Planner
  • Ecological Planner/Designer
  • Urban Planner
  • Construction Manager
  • Landscape Architect

Review Courses for Landscape Architects Board Exam

There are review courses that you can take to prepare for the board exam. The content of these review courses may vary depending on the review centers, but they’re mostly based on the examination scope released by the Professional Regulatory Commission which includes:

  • Landscape Architecture Design (40%)
    • Creative application of the functional, orderly, and aesthetic solutions to a given landscape architectural problem involving the analysis, planning, design, and development of natural scenery and various land areas and spaces towards attaining a desirable environment including well-related and conforming land uses and site-structure relationships.
  • Landscape Technology and Materials (15%)
    • Application of the various technological knowledge tha goes into the development of land areas such as site grading and surfacing, irrigation and drainage, lighting, and other outdoor utilities and fixtures and the variuos materials, whetehr natural or man-made, used therein, expressed in graphic design, working drawings, and spefications.
  • Ecology and Nature Conservation (10%)
    • Understanding of the ecosystem i.e. the characteristics and the symbiotic relationships of the natural elements, of animals and plants, of man and nature, the study of the protection, conservation, and rehabilitation of the natural scenery and the environment.
  • Planting Design and Interior Plantscaping (15%)
    • The functional, ecological, economic, and aesthetic applications of plant materials, their documentary representations for design purposes, the design relationships of landscape architecture and building interiors and the applications of plant materials to the design of interiors.
  • History and Theory of Landscape Architecture (10%)
    • Developmental history of landscape architecture, geography, and its relevance and importance to civilization and society, application of the principles of good design composition expressed in vision dynamics in environmental premises.
  • Professional Practice and Ethics (10%)
    • Knowledge in office and project procedures and management, preparation of specifications, estimates, contracts, and other pertinent documents, and knowledge of the various laws and codes governing the practice of the profession, responsibilities to society, relationships with clients, fellow landscape architects, architects, allied professionals, contractors, material dealers, aspirants to the profession and other parties involved.

TAKING THE EXAM

Licensure exams for BS Landscape Architecture graduates are usually held once a year. Below are the dates and testing centers for the 2013 Landscape Architects Board Exam:
