Licensed and Registered Professionals Now Required to Earn Continuing Professional Development Units to Renew Licenses
In compliance with Republic Act 10912 or the Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016, all registered and licensed professionals under the authority of the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) are now required to earn a certain number of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units before they can renew their professional licenses starting in the first quarter of 2017.
Determined by the individual Professional Regulatory Boards (PRBs) of the PRC, the required CPD units for each profession can be earned by taking part in a list of CPD activities laid out by the boards, with each activity having a corresponding CPD unit.
The professional applying for the credit will then be required to submit supporting documents that will prove their participation. Units will then be awarded following their successful verification (see Annex A at page 5).
Professionals aiming for CPD units may obtain credits by participating in CPD programs managed by CPD providers including sole proprietors, private corporations, and government agencies and institutions.
For more information about the terms of the CPD Act, please refer to the document attached or visit the website of the Professional Regulatory Commission.
