Marine Deck Officers Board Exam 2013
The Marine Deck Officers Board Exam, also known as the Marine Deck Officers Licensure Exams, is a board exam facilitated by the Board of Marine Deck Officers under the Professional Regulatory Commission to assess the competency of BS Marine Transportation graduates.
As per R.A. 1080, individuals who passed the board exam need not take the civil service exams to be eligible for the following positions:
- Chief Officer/Chief Mat
- Master Mariner
- Second Officer/Second Mate
- Third Officer/Third Mate
- O.I.C. of a Navigational Watch
- Navy Officer
- Coast Guard Officer
SCOPE OF THE EXAM
The licensure exam will cover all the important things you have learned during your four years in college. These include the following:
Chief Mate
- Function 1 – Navigation 20%
- Function 2 – Cargo Handling and Stowage 40%
- Function 3 – Controlling the Operation of the Ship and Care for Persons on Board 40%
Master Mariner
- Function 1 – Navigation 30%
- Function 2 – Cargo Handling and Stowage 30%
- Function 3 – Controlling the Operation of the Ship and Care for Persons on Board 40%
O.I.C. of a Navigational Watch
- Function 1 – Navigation 40%
- Function 2 – Cargo Handling and Stowage 30%
- Function 3 – Controlling the Operation of the Ship and Care for Persons on Board 30%
TAKING THE EXAM
Licensure exams for BS Marine Transportation graduates are held twice a year, usually around the months of January and July. Below are the dates and testing centers for the 2014 Marine Deck Officers Board Exam.
