Plant Pathologists in the Philippines

A Plant Pathologist in the Philippines is a person who studies plants and plant diseases. Their main concern is controlling or eliminating plant diseases in order to increase crop production. To do this, a Plant Pathologist may be involved in conducting experiments to evaluate the resistance of different plant breeds to known and emerging plant diseases, coming up with strategies and techniques that can boost plants’ resistance to pests and diseases, and managing a database of previous and current plant disease-related researches for future reference.

What course do I need to take to become a Plant Pathologist?

Plant Pathology is a specialized field. Because of this, employers often ask for a Master’s or Doctor’s Degree in Plant Pathology as a basic requirement.

A bachelor’s degree, preferably a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with major in Plant Pathology or other similar undergraduate programs, is required prior to enrolling in a Master of Science in Plant Pathology program.
