Senior High School Specialized Subject: Fundamentals of Accountancy, Business and Management



Fundamentals of Accountancy, Business and Management is one of the specialized subjects under the academic career track and ABM learning strand. Some examples of the things that you will learn from taking this subject include:

  • Branches of accounting
  • Users of accounting information
  • Forms of business organizations
  • Types of business according to activities
  • Accounting concepts and principles
  • The accounting equation
  • Types of major accounts
  • Books of accounts
  • Business transactions and their analysis
    • nature of business transactions
    • types of source or business documents
    • the rules of debits and credits
  • Accounting cycle of a merchandising business

While studying, you will also be asked to demonstrate what you have learned by participating in class activities that may include the following:

  • Journalizing of transactions using the general and special journals
  • Posting to the ledger
  • Preparation of trial balance
  • Preparing adjusting entries to include prepayments, accrual, and deferral
  • Worksheet preparation
  • Completing the accounting cycle of a merchandising business
  • Preparing the statement of cost of goods sold and gross profit
  • Solving simple problems and exercises in the analyses of business transaction
  • Analyzing common business transactions using the rules of debit and credit
  • Preparing a chart of accounts
  • Solving exercises on accounting principles as applied in various cases
