While studying, you will also be asked to demonstrate what you have learned by participating in class activities that may include the following:

  • Discussing the varieties, categories, and elements of various performing arts practices
  • Discussing the different elements of artistic expression as applied to a theater performance
  • Discussing the different principles of artistic organization as applied to a theater performance
  • Explaining the value of life stories as valuable sources of theater performances
  • Creating group skits that are evolved from personal stories
  • Performs short skits in front of an audience
  • Examining the merits of the skit performances
  • Reading melodies in simple meters and in major and minor keys
  • Notating simple melodies in major keys and in duple, triple, and quadruple meters
  • Recognizing melodic intervals visually and aurally
  • Playing with correct rhythm, good intonation, and good ensemble
  • Using appropriate position and fingering in playing simple pieces
  • Interpreting appropriate phrasing, articulation, and dynamics in performing instrumental pieces
  • Singing simple 2 or 3-part choral arrangements
  • Using proper enunciation and vocal techniques such as breathing and control
  • Interpreting and applying dynamic and tempo marks in singing
  • Conducting pieces in duple, triple, and quadruple meter using appropriate hand and arm gestures
  • Indicating attacks and releases clearly in conducting
  • Executing basic stance, forms, positions, and contextual meaning of the dance
  • Identifying the steps and movements of the dance with a visiting artist through execution
  • Analyzing the characteristics of classical and Filipino contemporary dance
  • Preparing a lecture-demonstration on dances supported by paper and audio-visual aids
  • Researching on the situation of performing arts-related industries
  • Presenting a report either individually or as a group on their findings on the skills, resources, and work opportunities available in performing arts-related industries
