Senior High School Specialized Subject: Electrical Installation and Maintenance



Electrical Installation and Maintenance is one of the specialized subjects under the technical-vocational livelihood (TVL) career track. Some examples of the things that you will learn from taking this subject include:

  • Electrical Materials and Tools
  • Mensuration and Calculations
  • Technical Drawings and Plans
  • Tools and Equipment
  • Occupational Health and Safety Procedure
  • Electric and Hydraulic Tools
  • Electrical Lighting Systems, Auxiliary Outlets, and Lighting Fixtures
  • Wiring Devices for Floor and Ground Fault Current Interrupting Outlets

While studying, you will also be asked to demonstrate what you have learned by participating in class activities that may include the following:

  • Identifying object or component to be measured
  • Choosing test instruments to be used for specific tasks
  • Identifying alternative measuring tools
  • Computing for required data
  • Reading and interpreting electrical signs, symbols, and data
  • Labeling functional and non-functional tools and equipment
  • Observing periodic preventive and maintenance of electrical tools
  • Preparing inventory of tools and equipment
  • Identifying hazards and risks
  • Following procedure for controlling hazards and risks in the workplace
  • Choosing appropriate lighting fixtures for specific tasks
  • Preparing an electrical wiring plan of a residential building based on the Philippine Electrical Code requirements
  • Installing electrical wiring systems using different types of wiring methods
  • Estimating the materials needed for the job
  • Observing safety procedure in installing the wiring devices for floor and ground fault current interrupter in accordance with OHS procedures
