Senior High School Specialized Subject: Fishport / Wharf Operations

  • Proper tray loading
  • Weighing and recording fish in tray loads
  • Appropriate segregation and piling of fish trays
  • Appropriate storage conditions of fish loads
  • Health and safety regulations on equipment and work area

While studying, you will also be asked to demonstrate what you have learned by participating in class activities that may include the following:

  • Conducting unloading activities in a safe and efficient manner
  • Identifying load characteristics when determining appropriate loading and unloading
  • Checking distribution of load to ensure that it is even, legal, and within safe carrying capacity
  • Securing and using the correct load restraint and protection equipment
  • Cleaning used equipment, work area, and surroundings in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Cleaning and storing personal protective equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Cleaning and preparing the classifying table or conveyor for fish classification
  • Segregating and piling fish trays by orders, following supervisor’s instructions
  • Cleaning used equipment, work area, and surroundings in accordance with health and safety regulations
