- Performing stringer or layered beads in accordance with welding standards
- Ensuring that uniformity of beads and ripples are in accordance with welding standards
- Ensuring that weld capping/final pass does not exceed allowable tolerances
- Conducting visual inspection to ensure that the finished weldment follows welding standards
- Performing root pass with root penetration that does not exceed allowable tolerances
- Checking root penetration to ensure that it meets acceptable standards
