Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II in the Philippines



Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II is a short TESDA course in the Philippines that will train you in welding carbon steel plate and pipe components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, work order, welding procedure or oral instructions using shielded metal arc welding equipment.

Course Duration

Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II takes a minimum of 268 hours to complete.

Admission Requirements

Common requirements for TESDA courses include:

  • Copy of Birth Certificate authenticated by NSO
  • Copy of High school or College Diploma
  • Certified True Copy of Transcript of Records
  • 1×1 Pictures
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character

Requirements, however, may vary depending on the institution you are going to enroll at, so we strongly suggest you get in touch with the school or training center’s official representatives for more accurate and detailed information.

Prerequisite

Some TESDA-accredited institutions may require you to complete Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I before being allowed to take Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II.

Qualified graduates of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II can find employment as SMAW welders.

Competency Assessment and Certification

Students enrolled in the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II course may be required to undergo a Competency Assessment before graduation.     ask ko kung pwdng take ng nc2 ng smaw po lang ang akin gawin kase po graduate na po ako ng vocational

    • Hi, Luisito!

      If you were asking whether you can skip the training part and just go right ahead to taking the assessment exam, from what we have been advised in the past, if you already have sufficient experience and you are confident that you can pass the assessment exam, you can skip the classes and jump right ahead to taking the exam. A National Certification will then be issued after you’ve passed the assessment. We’re not sure if there have been any recent changes to the process, though, so you might still want to call up TESDA to be sure.

      • eh sayang nmn po pinag aralan ko kung mag aaral po ulit ako ng SMAW kung pwd po training na lang po ako mga 2 weeks o less than, para pag usapan po yung bayad, bago po kumuha para naman po may pag asa po akong pumasa sa NC2 ng SMAW.
