Times Higher Education World University Rankings

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is an annual university ranking compiled by Times Higher Education in cooperation with Thomson Reuters. It was first known as the Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings due to its former collaboration with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), but it has since changed its name to Times Higher Education World University Rankings after its partnership with QS ended.

Now on its third year, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranks universities based on five indicators: teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook. It, however, does not include universities that  do not teach undergraduates; teach only a single narrow subject; or universities whose research output amounted to fewer than 1,000 articles between 2006 and 2010 (200 a year).

In some cases, institutions that are below the 200-paper threshold are included if they have a particular focus on disciplines with generally low publication volumes, such as engineering or the arts and humanities.
