Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in the Philippines
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (AB Psychology) is a four-year degree program in the Philippines that deals with the study of the way we think and behave.
By taking this course, you will learn how to conduct and interpret different tests such as those aiming at evaluating a personβs intelligence (IQ test), skills (aptitude tests), and personality (personality test); and how you can apply your findings in different settings such as the field of education, business, and public service.
It is mostly similar to Bachelor of Science in Psychology except that you don’t have to take the additional natural science electives that Β are required from students of the BS program. Also, contrary to BS Psychology which is typically taken in preparation for a career in medicine or research, AB Psychology is usually taken in preparation for a career in either law or business management.
Some examples of courses that you may take while enrolled in this program include:
- Pscyhological Statistics
- Developmental Psychology
- Personality
- Experimental Psychology
- Social Psychology
- Psychological Assessment
- Abnormal Psychology
- Research in Psychology
- Clinical Psychology
- Cognitive Psychology
- Educational Psychology
- Current Issues in Psychology
- Industrial Psychology
- Physiological Psychology
- Sikolohiyang Pilipino
- Group Dynamics
- Psychology of Learning
Aside from taking the subjects above, you may also be required to go through an On-the-Job Training at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other similar healthcare facilities where you’ll have an opportunity to put what you learned in school to good use.

What state university is offering AB Psychology courses here in the Philippines?
I was wondering if this course can take me abroad just wondering if I graduated here in the Philippines and have the chance to go to abroad are there any additional requirements in order to work in abroad specifically in America or Canada.
Hi, Robert!
Generally speaking, yes, it can. That said, requirements vary per employer. From the job advertisements for psychology graduates that we’ve seen so far, a Master’s degree in Psychology is almost always required along with some years of professional experience. We’re not sure if any specific certifications are required, though.
π
do this course requires a board exam or is it optional?
Hi, Mira!
Yes, it is now required. Apparently, a law requiring Psychology graduates to pass the board exam before being allowed to practice their profession was signed way back 2010; however, based on data from the PRC site, no actual licensure exam has been facilitated until 2014.

Maam/Sir
Good evening Im currently working as a callcenter agent in Teletech Lipa. I have a lot of questions so where should i go to ask. My main concern is about grade credit systems, schedule flexibility and cost. Another reason I am interested in your school is because my sister graduated here. Thank you in Advance.
Hi, Arie!
Contact persons may vary per school, but we suggest you try either the Registrar’s Office or the office of the Department Head first. They’re usually the ones who advise students regarding matters like these.

Hi! I am planning to study AB Psychology in Philippines, but through Homeschool program at Cap College here in Makati City. After I graduate can I take a board exam or can I pursue a Masters degree in a traditional school?
Thank You!
Hi, Angelica!
Thanks for visiting our site.
Hmm… We’re not sure about that. We’re guessing you can if its home-schooling program is accredited by CHED, but that’s just our guess. It would probably be best if you’ll confirm it from CHED directly so they can give you an accurate response.
