Name: Chrishel Suerte

Course Taken: Bachelor of Arts in In International Studies

Why did you choose to take the course you did?

When I saw the curriculum, I felt  a deep sense of connection with what I’m going to learn and how I can utilize these knowledge in my future career in public or foreign service.

What was the most interesting thing about the course?

I particularly liked language and history. In my opinion, these two cannot be taken for granted because we depend on them to understand ourselves and our identity better.

What kind of activities did you do in your major subjects?

We did in-depth research to understand and explain political and economic theories, created tables and charts of the flow of cultural development throughout history, wrote a lot of essays, practiced psychological and historical situations in order to have better comprehension, predicted economic charts, and read and read lots of books and articles pertaining to the subject at hand.

What advice can you give to incoming students who are thinking of taking the same course you did?

In order to study well, read well. If you don’t like reading, you must at least read what is necessary for your subject or else you will fail.

What are the things you learned from the course that have proven to be very useful in your work?

Writing a lot of essays and articles proved to be the most useful of all because answering written and oral examinations for application and for writing reports became very easy.

Do you think you chose the right course?

Yes. International Studies offers an outcome-based approach to learning. It gives graduates extensive general knowledge on politics, economics, government, culture, and history which equip us, graduates, with knowledge useful for all kinds of services.
