Senior High School Specialized Subject: Sports Officiating and Activity Management



Sports Officiating and Activity Management is one of the specialized subjects under the sports career track. Some examples of the things that you will learn from taking this subject include:

  • Principles and concepts of sports officiating
    • Code of Ethics
    • Characteristics of a good sports official
    • Duties and responsibilities
    • Careers in Sports Officiating
  • Sports Rules
    • Certifications from National Sports Associations (NSAs) and TESDA
  • Concepts of activity management
    • Risk and feasibility assessment
    • Event planning and coordination
    • Resource management
    • Marketing and Promotion
    • Evaluation

While studying, you will also be asked to demonstrate what you have learned by participating in class activities that may include the following:

  • Identifying fundamental concepts, principles, skills and mechanics of sports officiating
  • Explaining officiating mechanics of the sport
  • Interpreting rules of the sport
  • Demonstrating appropriate personal, social, and ethical behavior while officiating
  • Utilizing management skills during games/competitions
  • Analysing own performance after a game/competition
  • Identifying fundamental concepts of activity management
  • Assessing the feasibility of a sports/fitness/recreation event
  • Identifying the elements of an event plan
